With over 25 years of experience, Gary is a farm advisor covering sheep, beef and dairy farming, with special interests in hill country development, irrigation and farm systems integration. He has a strong background in farming and farm management, as well as managerial and advisory roles such as NZ Uptake Manager for Beef + Lamb NZ; Sustainable Farming Advisor on fund applications for the Ministry of Primary Industries; Project Manager for the Adaptation to Climate Change project for the Ministry of Primary Industries; Chairman of Wormwise; pasr representative on the Pasture Renewal charitable Trust, and others. He also operates a small block at Loburn with an intensive calf rearing operation and egg production unit.
Gary is not alone, he works in association with many other Farm Consultants including Rod McMillan & Dave Ashby to deliver on larger scale jobs where increased capability is required. In early 2015, Gary under took a special role with the NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management as the South Island Membership Development Officer. In this capacity, Gary is in regular contact with all of the farm advisors and rural professionals ibn the South Island. This network is regularly used for upskilling and professional development of all the members so if Gary does no know, Gary knows someone who does.

Sporting and other achievements include:
Representative player for Canterbury and North Canterbury rugby over many years. Has also been involved with St John Ambulance as a Cadet Leader and holds Senior First Aid certificates. Has also held many office bearing positions in the North Canterbury Rugby Sub Union, Canterbury Country Rugby as well as the Ashley Rugby Football Club.
